Biography

Melissa Yu- CSCS, CMT

Melissa graduated from UC Davis in 2014 with a degree in Exercise Biology. She then attended San Francisco School of Massage in 2017 to receive her massage license. Throughout the years, she has worked with a variety of population, including corporate tech workers, doctors, lawyers, weekend warriors, runners, professional/amateur boxers, MMA fighters, NFL players, etc. She is a certified massage therapist and a certified NSCA strength and conditioning specialist, who specializes in helping people build strength, improve mobility, and overcome injury. She combines both soft tissue mobilization and corrective exercises to help her clients move better. She believes that making each routine functional for clients is key and will help them remain successful in life, no matter what their goals are. Melissa is always finding new ways to better herself and will easily shift techniques depending on her client’s goals and needs. During her free time, she loves to box, watch sports, and take high energy group classes around the city. Her education, knowledge and experience aid her in the evaluation and treatment of her clients.

Philosophy

POSTURE IS EVERYTHING(.)

We must first create more ROM and reduce fascial tension in restricted areas either through manual therapy or specific corrective stretches/exercises, along with better breathing mechanics and joint positions. From there we can educate the client on how to move effectively and efficiently with their newly acquired body alignment. Once both are mastered, THEN we can focus on building strong and resilient muscles, along with speed, agility, power, endurance, etc.
